Why you should invest in micro-saas products NOW

We are in the best period for starting a business with no dev competencies and almost no money. Let me show you why.

The market

The micro-saas market is growing exponentially during the last year, thanks to a lot of factors. I think one of the most important points here is the no-code market.

The no-code market is the key point since it has 2 fundamental characteristics:

  1. Easy access
  2. Low costs

This allowed tons of people to consider this market for launching side projects during a full-time job. I have written about this here: https://medium.com/@gagliardidomenico/4-tips-for-launching-your-micro-saas-with-a-full-time-job-with-no-code-3c974d0c5caf

And not only.

People are also working with no-code tools for implementing products in a very short time, with fewer resources. And they can also transform passion into a real company.

One of the most important platforms in this market is Microacquire. Some numbers here:

These numbers are only related to one single month, but as you can see from these numbers they are not so bad! $46 M in acquisitions!

We can also see pre-revenue startups on Microacquire, with an Average pre-revenue acquisition price of $12 k, with average days on the marketplace of 124.

And that’s not the best thing here.

Micro-startups could really change markets. And most of them are bootstrapped —” Bootstrapping describes a situation in which an entrepreneur starts a company with little capital, relying on money other than outside investments. An individual is said to be bootstrapping when they attempt to found and build a company from personal finances or the operating revenues of the new company.”

If you search on Google for the word Bootstrapped Companies, you’ll find a lot of amazing stories. You could be inspired by them for your next company.

Your options

You know the market is not so small. But if you’re thinking to enter this market only using the “building” phase, you are wrong. There are a lot of ways for going into this market step by step.

One of them is investing in micro-saas businesses. You can get a good % of a SaaS, in a good market, with a good exit strategy. I sold 2 of them with a % of ROI so big (take a read here: https://medium.com/@gagliardidomenico/how-we-built-and-sold-2-micro-startups-in-6-months-bootstrapped-having-a-full-time-job-39929dfd9ed).

Based on these criteria, I can present you with the Omega Studio concept. I launched this concept on Aug 22, and I’m setting up the structure for an amazing 2023.

This is the flow:

The vision behind this new concept is pretty simple: we are in the micro-saas market, and we can create a VC concept for the micro world. This could be a mix between a startup studio and a VC. You must create value for every project you’re going to work on.

The approach should be rational, and we should evaluate every single aspect in a very deep way.

People should see our “product” as a new concept for the tech of the future. Our criteria are based on this global Manifesto:

Building Section:

  • The product must be based on no-code tech(when requires)
  • The product should be ready in the shortest time possible (< 1 week)
  • Validate it, before building it
  • The target could be B2C or B2B. It will depend on the product
  • The product should scale with less money as possible
  • No Marketing ADV — Organic rule
  • The product should reach at least 1k/MRR

Investing/Acquiring Section:

  • It should be a Micro SaaS
  • It should have MRR > 0 & MRR < 100
  • It should be in a huge market
  • Accomplish more with less. Frugality.
  • It should be not local
  • We could invest with an exit Strategy in 6 months OR we could acquire It, scale It, and sell It in 8 months
  • If we invest in something, we should act in an Active role
  • It could be based on No code tech, or not

The structure

We aim to be a global Startup studio with a VC part inside. We have 2 sections:

  1. Building Business
  2. VC Business

The 2 channels should work together for great harmony, and for generating ALWAYS a positive cash flow. Both sections will be built with one main goal: exit. We have defined a max period for it (6–8 months), but this could change. It will depend from project to project.

This “turnover” could give us the possibility of not remaining anchored to projects for too long, thus always having new opportunities in new markets.

The process should not be overpopulated:

  1. We should launch a product
  2. We should invest in something new
  3. We should sell the first product
  4. We should build another product
  5. We should acquire a SaaS
  6. Repeat the loop

This loop will have a positive impact on economics, products, shareholders, and more.
