My 2022 — what a ride
When you think about a year, it seems too short for doing something great, but it’s not the truth. 365 days for changing forever your life. Every day is an opportunity. That’s the truth.
If they had told me last year that in 2022 I would have sold three saas, earned more than double that of 2021, and extended my network, I would never have believed it. But it’s happened, and it was an amazing year.
Jan-Mar 2022
The first 3 months of 2022 changed me literally. I became a business analyst for a Mexican company in Italy. This job is really giving me a lot, and I’m getting experience working with different teams from all over the world.
In January I then changed jobs (full-time) and started my first saas with Tanveer called Pitch 2.0. So I got very active in the no-code and saas world.
I had 89 followers on Twitter. It’s not essential, but that’s where I found the rest of the opportunities.
At the end of February, we sold Pitch 2.0, and that’s when I realized that I could do something important in 2022. So I decided to focus more on the saas.
In March we launched our first AI saas focused on Excel, born from my problem: onetap.ai, translated text strings in excel formula. But the product didn’t explode in March.
Apr-Jun 2022
The second quarter of 2022 was fantastic. We officially launched our first AI saas, achieving more than 6k in less than 3 months. We then sold it in June achieving an ROI of over 3000%. I remind you that in the saas world we always used no-code tools, so the cost variables were really very low.
The lesson I learned was, if you bring values, people will be willing to pay a lot for what you have.
The beginning of the summer has changed some of my personal programs, which I will tell you about next quarter.
Jul-Sep 2022
So much happened between July and September!
First of all, with Tanveer, we launched our latest saas, yourcoverletter.com. Our second product with AI: you can generate cover letters based on the job description you’re applying for in seconds. The product is still active.
We launched it with the intent of selling it, but in August I sold my shares to Tanveer, and our paths split, but for different professional goals. We still speak and I really respect Tanveer because he really gave me access to this beautiful and advanced world (SaaS field).
At the end of August, I had the idea that it would give birth to Omega, which is what I’m doing right now. The initial idea was to create and sell saas products, but soon I arrived at the concept of Micro-VC that I explained here: https://medium.com/@gagliardidomenico/micro-vc-for-micro-saas-the-new-frontier-9a093d1c201a (Good reading!)
Oct-Dec 2022
The last part of the year was exploratory. We launched the first product with Omega (AI Alfred — https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ai-alfred/eeeahhaanadpgonocbinjbhbohcknfcd/related), I participated in the creation of Nocode Gigs (a portal to search for micro-jobs based on the nocodegigs.io), and finally we added a new product in our portfolio in December (everythingbyzipcode.com).
The last 3 months have been very reflective for me, and 2023 will be all about Omega.
Here are some goals:
- Acquire at least 2 saas
- Sell at least 3 saas again
- Generating 5k of MRR
